This is for all those who believe India benefited more than that it lost from being ruled by the British. Here’s a wonderful speech at the Oxford Union Society by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on the motion “This house believes Britain owes reparations to her former colonies.”
In his stirring speech he brilliantly explains how India was governed for the benefit of the Britain and the effect of 200 year rules.
What did 200 years of British rule cost us? India had been 23% of the global economy in the early 18th century. When the British left 200 years later, they’d managed to bring it down to a mere 4%! …and that is just a fraction of what the British did.
He also spoke about how Britain’s industrialiation was anchored on the de-industrialisation  of India.

'You Always Do This': Sonia Gandhi Scolds Tharoor for Comments Gone Public

Sonia ‘Angry’ With Tharoor For Not Toeing Party Line—Disrupting Parliament

The Thiruvananthapuram MP said he was not for disrupting Parliament, the sanctum sanctorum of Indian democracy, and suggested that the Congress to allow Parliament to function and not force adjournments through disruptions.

NEW DELHI:  Congress lawmaker Shashi Tharoor has earned a strong reprimand from an angry party president Sonia Gandhi after his comments at a party meeting went public. Mr Tharoor had reportedly said yesterday he was not in favour of disrupting Parliament over the party's demand for the resignation of three top BJP leaders.

You always do this, it's become a habit with you," an angry Sonia Gandhi said to Mr Tharoor at a meeting of party lawmakers today, sources said. Stunned Congressmen looked on, before Mrs Gandhi's son and deputy Rahul Gandhi ushered them out with comments intended to lighten the moment, they said.

Mrs Gandhi's rare outburst reportedly came after other lawmakers complained that Mr Tharoor had breached party discipline. His alleged comments were reported by newspapers today.

The Congress, which has a thin 44 MPs in the Lok Sabha, has adopted an aggressive stance in Parliament giving notice to the government that it will not allow the houses to function till foreign minister Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, caught in the Lalit Modi and Vyapam scandals, are removed.

Sonia Gandhi has asked her MPs to be aggressive; they all wore black bands on their arms as they were led into Parliament today by the Congress president. Sonia Gandhi told NDTV let them say what they want we will continue to protest.

The first two days of the monsoon session have been washed out by the Congress protests.

To speak like Shashi Tharoor

Call a spade a spade

The above idiom means to say plainly and bluntly what you mean without being euphemistic .

To "call a spade a spade" is a figure of speech which explicitly calls out something as it is, by its right name. The implication is not to lie about what something is and instead to speak honestly and directly about a topic, specifically topics that others may avoid speaking about due to their sensitivity or the unpleasant or embarrassing nature of the subject.

What happens when a perfectly innocuous phrase takes on a more sinister meaning over time?
Case in point, the expression "to call a spade a spade." For almost half a millennium, the phrase has served as a demand to "tell it like it is." It is only in the past century that the phrase began to acquire a negative, racial overtone.

call a spade a spade

Fig. to call something by its right name; to speak frankly about something, even if it is unpleasant. (Considered offensive by some. Use only with discretion.) Well, I believe it's time to call a spade a spade. We are just avoiding theissue. Let's call a spade a spade. The man is a liar.

call a spade a spade

To speak plainly and forthrightly.

call a spade a spade

to tell the truth about something, even if it is not polite or pleasant You know me, I call a spade a spade and when I see someone behaving like an idiot, I tell them.

Call a spade a spade

Meaning

To speak plainly - to describe something as it really is.

Origin

It might be thought that this derives from the derogatory use of the slang term 'spade', meaning Negro, an American term originating in the 20th century
