ye me matam idam nityam anutishthanti manavah

shraddhavanto 'nasuyanto  muchyante te 'pi karmabhih

ye -who ;me -my ;matam-teachings ;idam -these;nityam -constantly ;anutishthanti-abide by ;manavah-human beings ;shraddha-vantah-with profound faith ;anasuyantah-free from cavilling ;muchyante-become  free ;te -those ;api-also;karmabhih -from the bondage of karma .

Those who abide by these teachings of mine ,with profound faith and free from cavil ,are released from the bondage of karma .

Cavil (-ils,-illing,-illed) is to make objections about something on small and unimportant points ,a trivial and unreasonable objection .

Very beautifully ,the Supreme Lord terms the siddhanta (principle )explained by him as mata (opinion ).An opinion is a personal view ,while a principle is universal fact .Opinions can differ amongst teachers ,but the principle is the same ,but in the Gita ,the Lord has named the principle explained by him as opinion .By his example ,he is teaching us humility  and cordiality .

Having given the call for action ,Shree Krishana now points out the virtues of accepting the teachings of the Bhagvat  Gita with faith and following them in one's life .Our prerogative as humans is to know the truth and then modify our lives accordingly .In this way ,our mental fever (of lust ,anger ,greed ,envy ,illusion ,etc.)gets pacified.

Prerogative :Individual right or privilege is a privilege or right that allows a particular person or a group to give orders or make decisions or judgments.

Prerogative :Special right that somebody/something  has.

In the previous verse ,Shree Krishna had clearly explained to Arjun to offer all works to him .But he knows that this statement  can cause ridicule from those who have no belief in God and rebuke from those who are envious of him .So ,he now emphasizes the need for accepting the teachings with conviction. He says that by faithfully following these teachings one becomes free from the bondage of karma .But what happens to those who are faithless ?Their position is explained next.

SPRITUAL DIALECTICS PART III

Question .In Hinduism ,we have many Gods -Krishna ,Ram ,Shiv ,Vishnu ,Durga ,to name a few .Are they all different Gods ?And if so ,are some of them bigger than the others ?

He is the cause of all causes and yet Himself without a cause .

Answer :These are not different Gods ;they are different forms of the same Supreme Lord .

We too have many personalities .When a man goes to office ,he is dressed formally .When he takes a walk in the park ,he is dressed semi -formally .And when he is at home ,he is dressed very informally .His wife does not become confused ,thinking ,"I had married one man .How come I have three husbands ?She knows very well that these are different appearances of her one husband .Similarly ,Krishna ,Ram ,Shiv ,Vishnu ,etc .are all different forms of the same one God .We should not consider any one of these as bigger or smaller than the others. This is stated in the Vedas:

ekam santam bahudhaya kalpayanti( Rig Veda 10-114.5)

"The absolute Truth is one but has been described in a variety of ways by the saints.

While comparing the example of a worldly person with God ,we must also note the difference.A worldly person is not all-powerful ;he cannot exist in all three places at the same time .However ,God is supremely powerful .He can manifest in as many forms as He wishes and exist in all of them simultaneously .Hence ,He eternally exists in the forms of Krishna ,Ram ,Shiv ,Vishnu ,etc. The true devotee respects all these forms of God ,although doing devotion to any one of Them .
